I tried to install an eSIM online. I messed it up somehow and never received my local Thai number. The eSIMs that Piak helped us get yesterday are actually working. Yeah!
In Thailand, medical care is free – if you are Thai. If you are not, you have to pay for it. Since Max’s prescription is not “over the counter”, we needed to go to a private hospital, see a doctor and then get the doc to fill the prescription. He calls the Bangkok International Hospital at 4pm the day before and they give him an appointment for 2pm the next day. Total cost to see the doctor: $50.
We decided to go early and arrived at 11:30. We walked out 90 minutes later with a filled prescription that cost us HALF AS MUCH as in the USA! Medical tourism is a real thing! Who knew?!? 🤯
All kidding aside, I hear stories that it is cheaper to get medical treatment in Thailand >>AND<< you get as good or better care than in the USA. This seems to be true even if you have good health insurance like Max.

We need to talk about the food court.
No, I have never seen anything like this in any hospital. Not even close.
I’m guessing that they have patients from all over Asia since the cuisines offered were from a dozen countries.
The people working each booth seemed to be from the countries. This is a radical departure from the USA.
Also, the gender of the people was all over the map.
Maybe the most striking? Each dish was relatively healthy and cost no more than $5. We got four meals (Max had two) and dessert for under $30
Piak meets us around 6 and takes us on a little walk.
We start off a block from our hotel and meander down Soi Pracha Songkhro 2 Yaek 7 where every 20 feet or so is a new “factory” working with fabric. I have never seen anything like this.
We turn left down Soi Pracha Songkhro 4 which is busier and includes food vendors in addition to the factories and the occasional storefront
We walk a few blocks and run smack dab in to an open air market on Pracha Songkhro Road. Now THIS is what we came to Thailand to experience!
Max was able to find lots of the fruits he was looking for. Soaking it all in was delightful. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Everything!
