Breakfast. Clockwise from top left:
Weird pear/cucumber thing that Max thinks tastes like bile 😱😰
Rose apple
Mochie-type pancake made with coconut milk and green or purple rice
Fried coconut and sticky rice thing that cost 10¢
Sour sweet mango
Green plumb-looking thing that is super sour
Mini mango (Suprise! They taste like small mangos.)

This is 2/3rds of a bag of mangosteens that is left after Max and I ate our fill 😋

Got on the free shuttle to the subway at noon and road it to BL29 Wat Mangkon. (Also known as China Town.)

I am fascinated by the infrastructure here. I have seen places with this many telephone wires, but never in such a modern city. Bangkok is clearly in transition.
It’s been here forever so every nook and cranny is filled with SOMETHING. Yet it now, clearly has money and some power and the government CARES about making life better. And it seems like the people are clamoring to use their national power to improve the lot of all people rather than just a few rich families.

This shop blew my mind!

Jek Pui. Best meal yet! So good Max had two! At $1.50 each, we all took servings home.

I have heard about vending machines that hold the most wild things but… I just do not understand this fascination with these small characters. Sooooo many people have them hanging from their person. Are they like furies with their fursona? 😳
I have not seen a lot of birds downtown. That is not surprising. I have HEARD birds at every green patch. They are loud. They sing over the din. 🦜
Amapiano has entered the chat!!

We headed to another market only to find (twice now!) that these “happenings” are only bustling at specific times. Fortunately for us, we found everything that we were looking for and much much more!

Decided to relax in the room tonight so Piak split around 6. Realized we didn’t have rice for Max’s Penang curry so I dipped out to grab some. This being Bangkok and our hotel being in one of the bustling hubs where Thai people actually live and work, not 300’ from the front door, a woman was selling single servings of different kinds of steamed rice out of those insulated boxes. Surprising no one here, they come in small single-serve plastic bags and cost all of 20 Baht (75¢).
Since I was out and they were making them right next to her, I figured I would try some donuts with what I thought was something sweet like condensed milk. Sorry, that would be like warm soy milk. Ummm… no thank you. The donuts did not taste like anything and… nope, not down with the soy milk. That’s ok. Another 80¢ experience. 🤷🏾♂️
